Modi College got recognition for initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyans

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today got recognition and appreciation for innovative initiatives ‘Solid waste management’ and ‘Conservation of water’ which were implemented under the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Government of India. The college received the recognition and appreciation letters from Municipal cooperation, Patiala for meticulous planning, designing and implementation of these eco-friendly and ‘green-clean’ initiatives. Smt. Poonamdeep Kaur, Commissioner Municipal Cooperation, Patiala while appreciating and presenting the certificate and memento to the college said that Modi College has set an example with continuous commitment and dedication for the preservation and revival of environment. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while receiving the recognition letter told that the college is committed to the objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and it has initiated various projects for management and recycling of the solid and liquid wastes for pollution free green environment.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Nodal officers of the college Dr. Ashwani Kumar and Dr. Manish Sharma said that the college is harvesting 16799.65 cu/m water annually through three recharge wells on the campus and total solid waste of the campus is segregated and decomposed on the campus itself. These projects are important for communities and society as humans are facing the threat of global warming and climate changes. These projects were implemented with the involvement of our students and these were also helpful in generating awareness among them. These initiatives are easily replicable and are sustainable. On this occasion Sh.lal Vishwas, joint Commissioner, Sh. Amandeep Sekhon, Co-ordinator Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Patiala Urban) and other officials and nodal officers were also present.

ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਵੱਛ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ‘ਸਾਲਿਡ ਵੇਸਟ ਮੈਂਨਜਮੈਂਟ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਕੰਨਜ਼ਰਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ ਵਾਟਰ’ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਅੱਜ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਚੇਚੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਟ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ-ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਵਿਉਂਤਬੰਦੀ, ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ-ਪੱਖੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਨਗਰ ਨਿਗਮ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਪੂਨਮਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਨਮਾਨ-ਪੱਤਰ ਭੇਂਟ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਰਾਹੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਬਾਕੀ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਦਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ੳਦਾਹਰਣ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ।ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਨਗਰ-ਨਿਗਮ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਵੱਛ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵੱਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਲਿਡ ਵੇਸਟ ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਵੱਛ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫਸਰਾਂ ਡਾ.ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ.ਮੁਨੀਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਦਾ 16799.65 cu/M ਪਾਣੀ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਰੀਚਾਰਜ ਯੂਨਿਟਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਾਰਾ ਕਚਰਾ ਸੈਗਰਾਗੇਟ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਕੰਪੋਸਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗਲੋਬਲ ਵਾਰਮਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਚਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁੱਖ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਮਾਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਰੁੱਪਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਹੈ।ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਤਾਵਾਰਣ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਲੋਂੜੀਦੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਚਾਇਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਨਿਗਮ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਇੰਟ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਲਾਲ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ, ਸਵੱਛ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਸੇਖੋਂ (ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ) ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਫਸਰ ਤੇ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਸਨ।
